CH Breuddwyds Starlords Flight to Knowhere RN BN

He may be plain in color - but there is nothing boring about this boy.

Quill is our pick boy from our 2021 Moon Litter. The last one to go to his new home, we held him back waiting for someone we felt could nurture all his potential. Now residing in Arizona, Quill helps manage the fort at the Tiki Ranch and has proven to be a phenomenal first show dog and ranch hand for his owner.

This boy makes sure he does everything a little extra. He finished his championship with 4 majors, and has already collected 6 GCH majors and 7 CH defeats - needing only 3 singles to complete the title. He has also earned his BN [Beginner Novice obedience] and RN [Rally Novice] titles.

Quill has officially began training

Quill was initially tested on stock as a young puppy before going to his new home in Arizona. He has grown up around cattle, sheep, and goats at the Tiki Ranch in Phoenix, AZ where his family raises livestock and shows in 4-H.

Recently he came back to us for a mini vacation and to begin his start into AKC Herding. We train at The Oaks Ranch under the fantastic Dana Rochat of DRC Australian Cattle Dogs.

In this clip we are working on our directions, when to change them, and how to get his body out and around the sheep to create a wider circle. We are also introducing flank commands which tell him which direction we want him to go and using the flag to help guide him. By the end of this clip you see him understanding that the flank command, our body language, and flag position are his cue to change direction.

This guy has more speed than he knows what to do with! He shows great drive and is very promising as a herding dog. When he returns to AZ, he will continue to be a working ranch dog while he prepares for his future in the trial arena.
